Legal context

The Supply Chain Initiative is a private initiative aimed at improving and strengthening collaboration within the agri-food chain. The signatory parties attach great importance to a strong partnership within the chain, based on the three pillars of sustainable development (economic, environmental, and social).

The initiative also seeks to support the proper application and strengthening of existing legislation, in particular:

  • Directive (EU) 2019/633 of 17 April 2019 on unfair trading practices in business-to-business relationships in the agricultural and food supply chain, as transposed by the law of 28 November 2021 and incorporated into Book VI of the Code of Economic Law.
  • The B2B legislation on unfair contract terms, also included in Book VI of the Code of Economic Law, which has been applicable to contracts between businesses since 2020.

Through constructive dialogue and the sharing of best practices, we aim to contribute to a better understanding and more effective compliance with these rules, in the interest of all stakeholders in the chain.
